The education authorities in Islamabad have issued the revised winter schedule for all government schools and colleges.
According to the notification, the new timings will remain in effect from December 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026. These hours apply to all institutions operating under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), whether located in urban or rural areas.
The adjustment aims to help students and staff better cope with cold weather and shorter daylight hours.
Timings for Single-Shift Schools:
Monday to Thursday: 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM
Friday: School will close at 12:30 PM
Montessori and prep classes: Will end at 12:30 PM throughout the week
The schedule for early childhood education classes has also been revised:
ECE I: 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM
ECE II: 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM
Timings for Double-Shift Schools:
Morning shift (Monday to Thursday): 8:15 AM to 1:15 PM
Friday: Morning shift will end at 12:15 PM
Evening shift (Monday to Friday): 1:15 PM to 6:00 PM
Timings for Colleges:
Postgraduate colleges have been given flexibility. They may operate from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM, or extend their hours until 4:00 PM, depending on academic requirements.
