The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday extended its bullish run as the renewed investor optimism pushed the benchmark KSE-100 Index sharply higher.
At close, the index settled at 160,657.49, up 2473.55 points, or 1.56%.
Broad-based buying was seen across major sectors, including automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, fertilizer, oil and gas exploration, oil marketing companies (OMCs), power generation, and refineries.
Heavyweight stocks such as HUBCO, ARL, MARI, OGDC, PPL, POL, DGKC, HBL, MCB, MEBL, and UBL all closed in positive territory, contributing to the rally.
The strong performance followed Wednesday’s modest rebound, when the KSE-100 Index rose 313.44 points (0.20%) to close at 158,183.95, recovering slightly from the previous session’s sharp correction.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani rupee inched higher against the US dollar, appreciating 0.07% in early trade on Thursday. At 10:15 a.m., the local currency was trading at Rs280.57 in the interbank market, up Rs0.20 from the previous close.
