Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi Wednesday inaugurated the state-of-the-art Faisalabad Railway Station, which is an important milestone towards the revival and modernization of Pakistan Railways.
Speaking to media representatives on the occasion, the Federal Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to bring about a complete transformation in the country’s railway system, ensuring the revival of all important tracks and upgrading of infrastructure.
He said that the renovation of Faisalabad Station is not a temporary one but a comprehensive structural rehabilitation that reflects the government’s commitment to a developed and independent Pakistan.
Hanif Abbasi said that public Wi-Fi service has been activated at five to six major stations including Faisalabad, Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi.
He added that the 884-km main railway line from Lunda to Rohrri is being upgraded, in which 400 km of new track will be laid and 484 km of improvement will be done under a detailed schedule.
The foundation stone of the project will be laid by June 2026 and is targeted to be completed in two to two and a half years.
