SUKKUR: An accountability court has extended the hearing of the assets beyond means case against Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Khursheed Shah till 3rd February.
The accountability court judge conducted the hearing in which he directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to present all the relevant papers in the court related to the case.
Khursheed Shah was brought in an ambulance for the hearing due to his ill health. The court then directed the NAB to present a questionnaire based on 10 queries that were handed over to the PML-N’s lawyers.
On December 17, an accountability court had granted bail to the former leader of the opposition. However, NAB had challenged the decision of his release in the high court.

A two-member bench of the SHC Circuit Bench Sukkur comprising Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto and Justice Khadim Hussain Tunio suspended bail of Khursheed Shah after hearing arguments from NAB prosecutor and the lawyers of the accused. The hearing on NAB’s plea was adjourned till January 19.
Khursheed Shah was arrested on 18th September by the NAB in Islamabad in a joint raid by the anti-corruption watchdog’s Rawalpindi and Sukkur bureau. His wives, son, and nephew are among eighteen co-accused in the reference and were also asked to appear in the court. He is facing charges of possessing assets amounting to Rs500 billion through illegal means.
According to the document, he was accused of transferring an amnesty plot in Sukkur, Rohri, and Karachi, Glamour Bungalow, Junejo Flour Mills, Mukesh Flour Mills including 83 other properties were made under Shah’s frontman, Pehlaj Rai.
