The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has fixed the hearing for the petition seeking the closure of the X (formerly Twitter) account of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Chairman Imran Khan for November 4th.
According to local media reports that surfaced on Saturday, the cause list released by the IHC Registrar’s Office states that Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir will hear the petition regarding the closure of the PTI founder’s X account on November 4th.
The petition was filed by a citizen, Ghulam Murtaza, through his lawyer, Barrister Zafarullah, requesting the removal of alleged “disruptive posts” from the X account during Khan’s imprisonment and an injunction to stop their dissemination.
The petitioner has also requested the removal and blocking of the PTI founder’s alleged illegal and malicious tweets.
The IHC has already issued a notice to the PTI founder and sought a reply, while the court has also sought responses from other respondents, including the National Cyber Crime Agency and the Superintendent of Jail.
On October 1st, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) handed over a 21-point questionnaire to PTI founder Imran Khan. His interrogation will be conducted based on the written answers to this questionnaire.
The NCCIA investigation team has met with the PTI founder twice, but he did not cooperate with the team in jail.
According to sources, the NCCIA asked the PTI founder following questions:
- How is your X account active despite being in jail?
- In another question, it was asked, who operates your X (Twitter) account and from where? Do you accept the posts made from your personal X account?
- Are the anti-state tweets posted with your consent?
