The Commissioner of Karachi has issued fresh prices of food items in the city. According to the official price list, the rate of live chicken per kilogram has been fixed at Rs250, while the price of a dozen eggs has reached Rs307.
According to details, Grade-1 potatoes are priced at Rs69 per kilogram, onions at Rs86 per kilogram, and tomatoes at Rs230 per kilogram. Among fruits, Grade-1 bananas are priced at Rs94 per dozen, golden apples at Rs208 per kilogram, and Kandhari pomegranates are available at Rs299 per kilogram.
It is noteworthy that selling food items at rates higher than the official price list has become a routine in Karachi. Despite the official rate of tomatoes being Rs230 per kilogram, they are being sold across the city for Rs300 to Rs400 per kilogram.
However, the administration has directed that if any shopkeeper charges above the official rate, citizens can immediately lodge a complaint with the Commissioner’s Control Room at number 1299 or via WhatsApp at 03160111712.
