The anti-terrorism court has indicted Aleema Khan in the November 26 protest case, as reported by national media on Wednesday.
In the Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court, the hearing of the case registered at Sadiqabad police station over the November 26 protest took place. During the hearing, the prosecution presented arguments on a petition filed by Aleema Khan.
During the proceedings, charges were framed against 10 accused, including Aleema Khan, who is nominated in the case. Aleema Khan had challenged the court’s jurisdiction today under Section 23 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Last year, on November 26, a protest was held by PTI at Islamabad’s D-Chowk, aimed at restoring the party’s electoral mandate, reinstating detained leaders, and ending the 26th Constitutional Amendment.
Thousands of workers from different provinces reached Islamabad to participate in the protest, where the government refused to hold talks, leading to clashes with security forces and incidents of arson and vandalism that caused damage to public property.
Later, in Rawalpindi’s Sadiqabad police station, Aleema Khan was nominated in the case, accused of inciting the protest, violating Section 144, chanting anti-government slogans, and committing acts of vandalism, with terrorism charges also added.
