In Swat’s Matta area, gunfire was opened on an anti-polio team during a vaccination campaign, resulting in the martyrdom of a Levies personnel.
According to details, Levies officer Yaseen was martyred by unidentified assailants’ firing. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack on the anti-polio team.
It is worth mentioning that earlier in Balochistan’s Nushki area, Killi Muhammad Hasni, unidentified individuals opened fire on an anti-polio team, resulting in the martyrdom of a police officer.
The spokesperson of the Balochistan government condemned the incident on May 27, stating that the anti-polio campaign is a national duty and any attack on the team is intolerable.
The nationwide anti-polio campaign, including in Balochistan, began in May, during which millions of children were administered drops to protect them from disability.
According to police, other members of the anti-polio team remained safe, while the body of the martyred police officer was shifted to the hospital.
