Trump hails Gaza-Israel deal as start of new era of peace in Middle East

U.S. President Donald Trump said the Gaza–Israel agreement marks not only the end of war but also a defeat of terrorism and extremism, heralding a new era of peace in the Middle East in which Arab and Muslim countries are partners.

Addressing the Israeli parliament, he described the Gaza deal as the beginning of a historic new chapter for the region.

He said that 20 living Israeli hostages and the remains of 26 others were returned to Israel after two years, calling this outcome “a magnificent success for Israel and the world” and praising the many countries that worked together as partners for peace. He urged future generations to remember this turning point.

Trump expressed special gratitude to Arab and Muslim states, saying the agreement demonstrates that peace is attainable and can be built through collective effort. During his speech an opposition member protested, and security personnel removed the individual from the chamber.

He reiterated that the agreement ends not only the conflict but also terrorism and extremism, calling it the start of a new era of peace in the Middle East with Arab and Muslim states as partners. He said Arab and Muslim countries played a key role by pressuring Hamas, and that the region is on track to become prosperous and stable. “Guns are quiet and the future looks bright,” he said, claiming that his administration had halted eight wars in eight months and predicting that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio would go down as one of the nation’s best foreign ministers.

Trump said the events of October 7 will never be forgotten and vowed they would not recur. “The United States will always stand with Israel,” he said, adding that the painful two-year period for Israelis and Palestinians is over and that battlefield gains will be transformed into regional peace and prosperity. “I don’t like wars, and I succeed in ending them,” he added.

In a striking claim, he said the United States had successfully struck Iran’s nuclear facilities in a joint operation with Israel. He described the action as carried out by advanced U.S. forces — including modern combat aircraft and specialist troops — and said the strikes eliminated Iran’s nuclear capability. Trump claimed that seven B-2 bombers of the U.S. Air Force flew toward Iran, accompanied by more than a hundred fighter jets, and that 14 bombs were dropped on Iranian sites. He said the operation destroyed key nuclear installations and prevented Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

Despite this, he said the door remains open for friendship and cooperation with Iran. He asserted Iran had been close to acquiring nuclear weapons within two months and that the strikes — which he said involved 13 bombs on important facilities — prevented that eventuality.

On other theaters, he said U.S. generals had defeated ISIS in Iraq far more quickly than some analysts expected, citing a four-week campaign rather than the four to five years some had predicted. He said the United States must first reach an agreement with Russia before dealing further with Iran and welcomed the disarmament of Hezbollah in Lebanon. He declared a long and difficult war over and predicted that Hamas in Gaza would lay down arms permanently, urging a shift of focus to stability, security, dignity, and economic recovery.

Trump praised the unity of Arab and Muslim states in reaffirming their commitment to fight terrorism, claiming successes against ISIS and celebrating the Gaza ceasefire as a turning point that changed anti-Israel narratives built over years.

He said Lebanon was experiencing positive change and voiced support for the Lebanese president’s efforts to control state arms, asserting that Hezbollah’s threat to Israel had been eliminated.

Looking ahead, he said a peace deal with Iran would be “wonderful,” but emphasized that the immediate priority must be restoring stability, security, dignity, and economic reconstruction. He pledged U.S. support for rebuilding a secure Gaza and thanked Arab and Muslim partners for their role in making peace possible.

He expressed his desire for the United States to join reconstruction efforts and said he planned to meet soon with leaders who helped secure Gaza’s peace.
