Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the operation of electric buses for three days to facilitate participants of the Raiwind congregation and has ordered immediate road patchwork on routes leading to Raiwind.
The electric buses will operate from the railway station and airport to Raiwind to ensure convenient transport for visitors attending the annual congregation.
The announcement came during a meeting between CM Maryam Nawaz and members of the Markaz Tablighi Jamaat’s Shura, including Dr. Nadeem Ashraf, Maulana Amjad Farooq, Maulana Muhammad Amir, Imtiaz Ahmed Ghani, and Arshad.
During the meeting, CM Maryam Nawaz directed authorities to ensure all necessary facilities and top-quality arrangements for the event. She instructed the Deputy Commissioner, CCPO, DIG, and CTO to personally visit Raiwind and oversee preparations.
The Tablighi Jamaat delegation praised Maryam Nawaz’s public service efforts and offered special prayers for her continued success.
The Chief Minister also ordered urgent repair and maintenance of three key roads in Raiwind and launched a special cleanliness drive starting November 1 until the conclusion of the congregation. She further instructed the administration to ensure fragrance sprinkling with rosewater in the area.
The Tablighi Jamaat elders commended the launch of the electric bus project and the construction of 90,000 houses within a few months, appreciating the government’s cleanliness initiatives across both cities and villages.
They lauded the government’s self-reliant flood relief efforts, saying that no other small city could have envisioned a green bus service like this. “Public perception is changing,” they said. “Earlier, when we visited England, people wouldn’t pay attention—now they show respect.”
The elders praised CM Maryam Nawaz for her dedication to public service, noting that cities “have never been this clean.” They highlighted that the Raiwind congregation attracts participants from over 110 countries, and the electric bus service has received widespread appreciation. “The model of public service set by CM Maryam Nawaz in Punjab is commendable and worth emulating,” they added.
Maryam Nawaz, in response, said that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had immediately advised her to meet with the Tablighi Jamaat leadership. “I serve the people with the spirit of serving God’s creation and worshipping the Creator,” she said, praying for continued strength to serve the public.
She added, “I remain patient in the face of criticism, but at times it becomes necessary to speak for the people. Our intention is sincere—to serve the public for the sake of Allah’s pleasure. When the spirit of service is true, Allah provides resources from the unseen.”
