After India defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai, the post-match award ceremony turned chaotic. Indian players refused to accept the trophy or medals from Mohsin Naqvi, who serves both as the ACC chairman and as Pakistan’s Interior Minister.
Because of this refusal, the trophy presentation was delayed and eventually truncated. According to reports, the trophy was taken off the stage and removed from the podium before it could be handed over to the Indian team.
The Asia Cup trophy is now believed to be in possession of tournament officials (under the control of ACC or related organising bodies).
It has not officially been handed over to the Indian team, nor has a formal presentation been completed.
The controversy has prompted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to plan a formal protest over the incident at the upcoming ICC conference.
Earlier, Yadav had expressed disbelief over Team India not receiving the Asia Cup trophy, saying, “This is something that I’ve never seen or heard since I started playing cricket that the winning team doesn’t get the trophy it deserves.
But for me, the real trophy is the players, support staff, and everyone who contributed. What matters is that everywhere you see on screens, it says, Indian Team Asia Cup Champions.”
