During a media interaction with former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) allegedly assaulted a journalist, prompting media representatives to boycott the session.
According to reports, PTI activists physically attacked private TV reporter Tayyab Baloch and forcibly dragged him out of Aleema Khan’s media talk outside Adiala Jail.
Eyewitnesses stated that the assault took place in the presence of party leadership, yet no one intervened to stop the workers.
Upon receiving information, SP Saddar Nabeel Khokhar, ASP Zainab Ayyub, and SHO Azaaz Azeem arrived at the scene with police contingents.
A written complaint is being filed by the victimized journalists at the Adiala Police Post, while authorities have called in additional personnel to arrest those involved in the attack.
What triggered the violence?
Sources revealed that a day earlier, Tayyab Baloch had asked Aleema Khan a question during her media talk regarding the alleged purchase of a property in the U.S. in 2004 using funds from Shaukat Khanum Hospital.
The query angered PTI workers. Today, when they got the opportunity, they allegedly beat him up.
Following the disturbing incident, media representatives suspended coverage, while PTI’s behavior came under sharp criticism on social media.
