A high-level delegation from three renowned U.S. mineral extraction firms visited Pakistan, resulting in the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the Government of Pakistan and the American companies in the presence of the Prime Minister and the Army Chief, regarding the extraction of gold, copper, and other rare minerals.
According to details, a high-level U.S. delegation comprising members from globally recognized companies in the minerals, mining, and infrastructure sectors — United States Strategic Metals and Mota-Engil — visited Pakistan from September 7 to 9. The purpose of the visit was to explore opportunities to expand mining operations in Pakistan and assess possibilities for supporting the development and value addition of mineral resources and infrastructure.
The delegation held high-level meetings with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Chief of Army Staff, the Minister for Petroleum, and the Federal Minister for Commerce. During these meetings, they were briefed on Pakistan’s vast mineral reserves, including copper, gold, and rare earth elements.
The visit was facilitated by the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan and highlighted strong bilateral ties in the economic and investment sectors. The visiting companies expressed their willingness to invest in establishing value addition facilities within the country, enhancing mineral processing capabilities, and developing large-scale infrastructure projects linked to the mining sector.
During the visit, two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between the two governments, focusing on the development and processing of critical minerals, including rare earth elements (REEs), and logistics services.
