Sialkot has received over 355 millimeters of rain in 24 hours, causing waterlogging in several areas, including Rangpura, Shahabpura, Dara Arain, Allama Iqbal Chowk, and Prem Nagar.
According to the Meteorological Department, rainfall is expected to continue for another two to four hours.
The district administration said that Nala Dek is experiencing an extremely high flood level, with a water flow of 77,000 cusecs recorded. Several villages have been submerged, and people from affected areas are being relocated to safer places.
The district administration further reported that the River Chenab is also facing a high flood, with water levels reaching 365,000 cusecs. Meanwhile, at Kot Nainaan on the River Ravi, the flow reached 210,000 cusecs, and at Jassar, the flow was recorded at 142,020 cusecs.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the River Ravi is currently experiencing a severe flood wave. So far, 257 people have been rescued from various locations, including Kartarpur.
Due to India’s release of water into rivers without prior notice, Pakistan is facing a severe water crisis. High flood levels have been recorded in the Sutlej, Ravi, and Chenab rivers, inundating dozens of riverside settlements, destroying thousands of acres of standing crops, and prompting emergency declarations in several districts.
According to the Meteorological Department and PDMA, the Sutlej is experiencing a high flood at Ganda Singh Wala, while a medium flood wave has been reported at Head Sulemanki.
The water level in the Ravi is also rising rapidly, submerging more than 50 villages near Ganda Singh. The evacuation process from the affected areas has been accelerated.
Near Okara and Burewala, protective embankments could not withstand the pressure of the water and broke.
Scenes of devastation are also being witnessed in Bahawalnagar, Minchinabad, Baba Farid Bridge, Bhukan Pattan, and Arifwala, where the floodwaters have swept away standing crops.
India has opened all the gates of the Thien Dam on the River Ravi, releasing 210,000 cusecs of water into the river at Kot Nainaan.
The water flow at Kot Nainaan is expected to rise further within 24 hours, and extremely high floods will pass through Jassar, Shahdara, and Head Balloki.
At Jassar on the River Ravi, the water flow has reached 90,000 cusecs, while at Shahdara, it has reached 40,000 cusecs. Several embankments have already broken in Chishtian and Ahmedpur East, while Khairpur Daha Bridge has also been severely affected.
The River Chenab has also begun to swell, with a water flow of 110,000 cusecs recorded near Chiniot. A flood wave has entered Head Marala, prompting alerts in border villages. District administrations are active in Shakargarh, Ferozewala, and other low-lying areas.
PDMA has issued instructions for residents of low-lying areas to immediately move to safe locations and has put district administrations on high alert to ensure timely response to any emergency situation.
