Afghan Cricket Board (ACB) on Sunday announced a 17-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025, with Rashid Khan as captain.
The squad included Rahmanullah Garbaz, Ibrahim Zardan, Darvish Rasooli, Sidique Ullah Atal, Asmat Ullah Omerzai, Kareem Jannat, Muhammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Mujib-ur-Rehman, and AM Ghazanfar.
Noor Ahmad, Farid Ahmad Malik, Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazl-e-Haq Farooqi, Sharf-ul-Deen, Ashraf, and Muhammad Ishaq are also part of the squad.
The Afghan team will also participate in the tri-nations series before the Asia Cup.
The 17th edition of the Asia Cup is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates from 9 to 28 September 2025, featuring eight teams contesting in the T20 International (T20I) format.
The competition will begin in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, with a group stage followed by a Super Four round and culminating in the final in Dubai. Group A includes India, Pakistan, the UAE, and Oman, while Group B features Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong.
Across 19 high-stakes matches, the tournament promises intense rivalries—most notably the India vs. Pakistan clash on 14 September in Dubai. As the defending champions, India aims to retain the title, while other teams will bring their best to secure a place in the T20 World Cup.
