At least seven people were shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Regi Shino Khel, near Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, late Saturday night. Police said one person was also injured in the attack.
According to officials, the victims were returning from a picnic at Tanda Dam when their vehicle came under fire. The assailants fled the scene after the shooting.
Police reached the site immediately and launched an investigation. The bodies were shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Kohat, where the injured man is receiving treatment.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Samad (31), Sajid (25), Yousaf (18), Ashfaq (18), Mustafa (15), Hamza (16), and Yasir (15). The injured has been identified as 18-year-old Abdul Razzaq.
It is not yet clear whether the attack was the result of a personal enmity or another motive. Authorities have begun a search for the perpetrators.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has witnessed frequent violence in recent years, with both militant and targeted attacks claiming lives in various districts.
