The Government of Balochistan has imposed a night-time ban on the movement of public transport vehicles across the province.
According to details, public transport will no longer be allowed to operate on provincial highways from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. Companies violating the restriction will have their route permits revoked.
The decision was made on Tuesday during a meeting chaired by Provincial Transport Secretary Muhammad Hayat Kakar. Representatives of transporters’ associations also attended the meeting, where it was agreed that the night travel ban would be strictly enforced in accordance with directives from the Home Department.
Kakar said that all deputy commissioners in the province have been instructed to take measures to stop public transport operations at night. Transport operators have been directed to install trackers in their vehicles, deploy security guards, and comply with the government’s anti-smuggling policies.
Last month, the district administration of Dera Ghazi Khan banned all traffic entering Balochistan at night. Under this measure, all government and private vehicles will be stopped at border checkpoints after 5 p.m. and will not be allowed to proceed until the following morning.
Officials said entry into Balochistan will now only be permitted during daylight hours to prevent any untoward incidents. The directive, issued by Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the Regional Transport Authority Muhammad Usman Khalid, will apply to key border crossings, including Sakhi Sarwar and Baowata.
