KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui announced on Sunday that he is resigning from his post as federal minister for Information Technology.
Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, speaking at a press conference in Karachi, said: “We have supported PTI in forming the government, and we are not taking back our support from the government regarding Karachi issues.”

The MQM-P leader said when his party became the part of the federal government, they had promised to support them in forming the government and in every challenging phase.
He further said that his inclusion in the cabinet of Prime Minister Imran Khan did not serve any useful purpose, as no progress has been made in eliminating their concerns on the issues facing the people of Karachi neither their demands were addressed.
Siddiqui complained that not even one point regarding the Sindh’s situations had seen progress after 16-17 months. “At this point, staying in government becomes difficult for me, that I continue to hold the position of a minister, and people in Sindh continue to face the problems, While the federal government did not fulfill its promises.

He said, “The lack of seriousness on these issues left us no alternative,” adding that the coordination committee of MQM-P had held a detailed discussion after which they had decided that holding the minister’s post was useless for him.
