Residents of Seri village, nestled in the picturesque hills of Murree between Islamabad and Rawalpindi, are living in fear following a series of leopard attacks.
Emerging from nearby forests, these predators have wreaked havoc by targeting livestock, a vital source of livelihood for the villagers.
In a recent incident, a leopard attacked the goats of an elderly resident while they were grazing. Despite repeated appeals to the Wildlife Department, the villagers’ concerns have largely been ignored. Frustrated and desperate, locals are calling on higher authorities to step in, ensure their safety, and compensate them for their losses.
Last October, a wild leopard attacked cattle in the Jandi Mohalla (Jabhi) area of Upper Khanpur, killing several goats and a bull, and leaving the community in distress.
Reports indicate that leopard attacks have been occurring in the region for months, injuring people and causing significant livestock losses. Yet, no meaningful action has been taken by the Wildlife Department to address this alarming issue.
The affected communities, deeply shaken by the relentless attacks, are now urging authorities to take decisive action to protect them and mitigate the damage caused by these predators.
