US President Donald Trump on Tuesday shared a video on his Truth Social account, seemingly created with generative AI, promoting the idea of transforming Gaza into a Gulf state-like resort. The video featured a golden statue of Trump, a hummus-eating Elon Musk, and shirtless American and Israeli leaders relaxing on a beach.
A voice in the video sings over a dance beat, “No more tunnels, no more fear. Trump Gaza is finally here!”
Trump has proposed expelling 2.1 million Palestinians from Gaza and converting the area into a “Riviera” owned by the United States.
Trump’s Plan and Global Reaction
Earlier this month, during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Trump announced his plan to take over the Gaza Strip and resettle its residents in Egypt and Jordan. He reiterated this intention a week later during a press briefing in Washington with Jordanian King Abdullah II, who appeared visibly uncomfortable.
The plan has faced widespread condemnation, with Palestinians, Arab nations, and human rights experts labeling it as “ethnic cleansing.”
The Palestinian Authority, based in the West Bank, has called the proposal a “serious violation of international law.” PA Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian Shaheen stated earlier this month, “We have tried displacement before, and it will not happen again,” referencing the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians during the Arab-Israeli war that led to the creation of Israel in 1948.
