Former DG FIA and president of the Pakistan Muslim League-N’s Sindh chapter, Bashir Memon, is likely to be appointed as the new governor of Sindh, replacing Kamran Khan Tessori.
The Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) had been seeking a change in the governorship of Sindh for some time, but the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had resisted agreeing on a new name. The PPP objected to Bashir Memon’s nomination, causing delays in the governor’s replacement.
Now, however, there seems to be a consensus among the coalition parties on Bashir Memon’s appointment, and the change is expected to be implemented soon, according to ARY News.
Earlier in July, the Sindh government called for the immediate resignation of Governor Kamran Tessori. Senior Minister for Excise, Taxation, Narcotics Control, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon, along with Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah, made this demand during a press conference.
They criticized the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) for its divisive politics, accusing the party of spreading hatred and engaging in a blame game, which they claimed had rendered it irrelevant at the local level. Memon also criticized MQM-P Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui for his comments about former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
