PTI Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan remains in prison in Attock Jail after being convicted in the Toshakhana case.
He was initially kept in a small cell but was later shifted to a different part of the jail. He is being provided ‘C Class’ facilities as the prison lacks other amenities given to prominent inmates. He is referred to as “Prisoner No. 804.”
Imran Khan’s lawyer earlier said that he has been kept in a small bug-infested cell with an open washroom in the Attock jail. Lawyer Naeem Panjotha said the jail cell where the former prime minister was being held was infested with flies and bugs.
The Islamabad HC has asked the authorities to apprise it who ordered to keep Khan at Attock jail instead of Adiala as directed by the sessions court. It ordered to provide him a copy of the Holy Quran and a prayer mat.
On August 5, Imran Khan was arrested in Lahore after a court sentenced him to three years in prison for illegally selling state gifts.
The 70-year-old cricketer-turned-politician was accused of misusing his premiership from 2018 to 2022 to buy and sell gifts in state possession.
The PTI has expressed concerns over the deplorable condition Imran Khan has been kept in jail. His wife Bushra Bibi has expressed fear that he may be slowly poisoned in jail.
The hashtag “Prisoner No. 804” has now viral and is the top trend on social media. The PTI chief said he is not complaining and will spend a “thousand years” in jail if needed given the struggle he is waging.
