The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has received a backlash after not featuring cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan in a video about the legacy of cricket.
The PCB shared a video on the legacy of Pakistan cricket, captained, “Making history isn’t just about one day, it’s about the legends we create and the tales we script, Pakistan Cricket Team – a legacy that echoes through time.”

The video features the establishment of the Pakistani cricket team and making its debut under Hanif Muhammad in 1952, who later made a record 337 runs in 1958.
However, during the 1986 Asia-Australasia Cup which Pakistan played under Imran’s captaincy, it focuses on Javed Miandad who hit a winning six to secure the trophy for Pakistan.
During the 1992 World Cup, the PCB doesn’t even mention captain Imran Khan who spearheaded Pakistan to victory and made history.
Instead, the video focus on the contribution of Inzamam-ul-Haq who scored 60 runs from 37 balls against New Zealand. It does not showcase a glimpse of the captain or the iconic moment when Pakistan won the World Cup and focuses on other players.
Social media users slammed the PCB for the omission. The #ShameonPCB has become the top trend on social media site X, formerly known as Twitter.
Netizens said the PCB cannot hide the truth and deny the role of Imran Khan in the World Cup and cricket history of Pakistan. The legendary cricketer is being ostracized from the media after a fallout with state institutions and is currently imprisoned.
