It was built for 800 million Egyptian pounds and serves as a symbol of the region’s rich cultural legacy.
What sets this mosque apart is its innovative approach to preservation. Each verse of the Quran, from Surah Al-Fatiha to Surah An-Nas, meticulously inscribed on separate walls or galleries. This attention to detail ensures that the sacred text is cherished and easily accessible to worshippers.
Egypt’s Grand Mosque has obtained three international certificates from the Guinness World Records, according to Egypt Independent, an English newspaper.

The mosque houses the world’s tallest minbar (pulpit) with a height of 16.6 meters (54 feet). The pulpit is made of wood and has been entirely handcrafted.
Another record of the mosque is that it houses the world’s heaviest chandelier, weighing 50 tons. It has a diameter of 22 meters and is suspended at a height of four floors.
The area of the Islamic Cultural Center is 19,100 square metres. It features multiple floors of parking spaces that can accommodate up to 4,000 vehicles.
