ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded of the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the ‘blatant contempt’ of verdicts given by superior judiciary in cases related to multiple FIRs in single offense.

His comments came after media reports that a Balochistan police party had departed to Lahore from Quetta to arrest former prime minister and PTI Chief Imran Khan in a case pertaining to his hateful speech against state institutions.

On Monday, police in the Balochistan capital Quetta lodged a case against the former prime minister at the Bijli Road police station for alleged hate speech against state institution.

In the FIR, the complainant said that Islamabad police reached Zaman Park to arrest the PTI chief but he evaded his arrest and later addressed his workers through a video link in which he incited public against institutions.

It is now believed that the police team would visit the Zaman Park with arrest warrants. An attempt to arrest Khan by Islamabad team was foiled by charged PTI workers on Sunday.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry said the case registered against Khan in Quetta was a blatant violation of SC and IHC verdicts, and the judgements of the superior judiciary were being mocked.

— Ch Fawad Hussain (@fawadchaudhry) March 8, 2023

Fawad Chaudhry said the situation was unacceptable, and appealed to the Chief Justice to take notice of this blatant contempt of court’s verdicts, and summon Prime Minister and the Chief Ministers.
