Karachi: Sindh Information, Transport and Mass Transit Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has disclosed that the first route of the Peoples Electric Bus Service was finalised and directed the Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) and the National Radio Transmission Company (NRTC) to launch Pakistan’s first electric vehicle bus service as soon as possible, a news source reported on January 10.
A meeting was held in which the Transport Minister discussed the Peoples Electric Bus service and issued these directives. During the meeting, the procurement of new buses for the Peoples Bus Service and operating it on more routes in Karachi were also discussed.
Moreover, the minister stated that the government has approved the funds for the procurement of more buses for the Peoples Bus service. The SMTA was also ordered to make all the arrangements for acquiring more buses.
