ISLAMABAD: The Capital Police has launched a special crackdown against drug mafia, proclaimed offenders, beggars, and other criminals.
18 culprits including 7 drug peddlers were arrested during this campaign, a police spokesman said on Saturday. He said that, on special orders of the IG Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, DIG (Operations) Waqar Ud Din Syed had issued these directions to all zonal offices. During the past 24 hours, Islamabad police accelerated their efforts and 19 criminals were arrested during the newly-initiated operations.
According to details, Nilore police during the interrogation of cases and special checking has recovered four pistols with ammunition and 20 liters wine from four culprits namely Majid Jahangir, Sifarish, Subhan Allah and Syed Noor. Koral police arrested two criminals during special checking identified as Umair and Muhammad Nadeem and recovered two pistols with ammunition.
CIA police during special checking in sector G-7 arrested drug peddlers namely Attiq ur Rehman and recovered 350-gram hashish, 15-gram heroin, and 10-gram ice. Aabpara police arrested a bootlegger namely Ayub Yousuf and recovered 10-liter wine during special checking.
Bhara Kahu police have retrieved two pistols with ammunition from culprits Habib Javed and Muhammad Mudassir arrested during checking. Bani Gala police have arrested four professional beggars. Golra police have arrested a drug peddler Muhammad Mazhar and recovered 280-gram hashish. Tarnol police have arrested drug peddler Faizan Jahangir and recovered 150-gram heroin, while police also arrested two beggars. Industrial Area police have arrested a bootlegger namely Rizwan Haider and recovered 10 liters wine.
Cases have been registered against all nominated accused and further investigation is underway. Furthermore, during special checking in every nook and corner of the city, police checked 223 vehicles, 631 motorcycles out of which 230 persons and 182 motorcycles without documents were shifted in different police stations.
DIG (Operations) Islamabad Waqar Uddin Syed has said that crime and illegal activities would be curbed and those backing those drug peddlers and professional beggars would be dealt with iron hands. He further emphasized that this campaign would be continued until the elimination of those social criminals.
