ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has submitted its reply in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) over former Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) senator Hafiz Hamdullah case.
The reply submitted by DG NADRA, Tahir Maqsood Khan stated that despite the investigation of the old Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) of the JUI-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah, neither his family was linked in the record.
The court has been appealed to reject Hamdullah’s plea as he was declared an Afghan National on 12th December 2018.

According to the NADRA, Hamdullah’s national identity card had been blocked for the first time in December 2018 after writing a letter to him.
NADRA stated, “Whereas, a district-level committee was also informed where the politician had also appeared. The particulars presented by Hamdullah to the committee were found bogus.”
Earlier in October, the IHC suspended released order to cancel the citizenship of Hafiz Hamdullah.

On 26th October, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) issued a notice to all television channels, barring to invite Hafiz Hamdullah in TV programs.
He frequently makes appearances in evening political talk shows on various news channels. The directive comes just days before the JUI-F is scheduled to lead an anti-government ‘Azadi March’ in Islamabad.
Hamdullah had been elected as an MPA from Balochistan in the 2002 general elections on a Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) ticket and served as provincial health minister from 2002 till 2005. He was elected to the Senate in 2012 on a general seat as a JUI-F candidate and served till last year.
