WASHINGTON: Twitter’s new owner and sole director Elon Musk has announced that the Blue Tick verification checkmark of the social media company is now available for $8/month.
Taking to twitter, Elon Musk called the Twitter’s current Blue Tick system as “lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit.”

He announced “power to the people! Blue for $8/month,” adding that the price adjusted by country proportionate to purchasing power parity.
Narrating the benefits of $8/month subscription scheme, Elon Musk said the user would also get:
– Priority in replies, mentions & search, which is essential to defeat spam/scam
– Ability to post long video & audio
– Half as many ads.
Besides these, he said, “paywall bypass for publishers willing to work with us.” He further said that this [Blue Tick subscription system] would also give Twitter a revenue stream to reward content creators.
Elon Musk, however, said there would be a secondary tag below the name for someone who is a public figure, which is already the case for politicians.
