Peshawar: A one-day interactive workshop on ‘Synthesis and Applications: Membrane Technology’ was organized by the Geopolymer and membrane research group of the Department of Chemical Engineering, UET Peshawar at the video conference hall the other day.
The workshop was organized under the funded project of the Pakistan Science Foundation in the category of Pak-China Joint Research Project (PSF-NSFC Second call for proposals).
The principal investigator of the project, Prof Dr. Saeed Gul, presented the progress and achievements of the project. He informed that one Ph.D. and two MSc scholars have completed their degrees under the project while one Ph.D. work is near to completion. Four research papers have been published in Impact Factor journals with a cumulative Impact factor of 17.5, while two papers are under review.
Pakistan Science Foundation’s Senior Scientific Officer, Dr. Israr was also present on the occasion. He highlighted the role of PSF and appreciated the achievements and archivists of the project. He informed that PSF works for the promotion of research to solve the problems of the country. He proposed the researcher come up with consortium proposals as PSF always prefer joint research projects.
Prof Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, the chief guest appreciated the efforts of Dr. Saeed Gul and his team. He highlighted the contribution of UET Peshawar and its research in the socio-economic development of Pakistan including Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Earthquake Engineering, developing Building Code of Pakistan, ML1 Lahore, etc.
He said that Membrane Technology is environmentally friendly technology. He appreciated the progress of the Chemical Engineering Department and hoped that the membrane research group will commercialize the synthesized membrane under this project in near future.
The leading Membrane Research Groups from LUMS, NUST, COMSATS, UET Lahore, Pak-Austria university of Applied Sciences, and UET Peshawar presented their research groups activities and shared their facilities and expertise for better collaboration of Pakistani researchers in technical sessions.
