LAHORE: Fresh off leading Peshawar Zalmi to their second Pakistan Super League title, captain Babar Azam has announced plans to celebrate the PSL 11 trophy victory in Peshawar.
Zalmi defeated Hyderabad Kingsmen in the final at Gaddafi Stadium on May 3 to clinch the championship. The win marks Zalmi’s first PSL title since 2017.

Babar said he had already spoken with the Chairman Sahib about bringing the trophy celebrations to Peshawar. The decision follows his recent charity match visit to the city, where he witnessed a “different passion for cricket” among fans. “Not much cricket happens there, those people miss this thing,” Babar said.
The captain led Zalmi’s dominant campaign, topping the tournament with 588 runs. His 103 off 59 in the Qualifier against Islamabad United powered Zalmi to a 70-run win and a place in the final. Zalmi finished the league stage with 8 wins from 10 matches, including a seven-match winning streak.
Key contributions also came from Kusal Mendis, who scored 541 runs, and bowler Sufyan Moqim with 21 wickets.
The celebration would recognize Peshawar fans who, as Babar noted, rarely get to host major cricket events despite their enthusiasm.
