A young man who was seen grabbing a police officer by the collar has been identified as the son of a senior female SSP officer in Karachi.
Police have taken into custody the son of Naseem Ara Panhwar after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
According to reports, the son of SSP Naseem Ara Panhwar misbehaved with a police official from the Rapid Response Force. The police had stopped his vehicle in the Defence area for snap checking, where it was discovered that he had affixed a government number plate to a private car.
Police also impounded the private vehicle bearing the official number plate. The female police officer later arrived at the Defence police station along with her husband and son.
It was revealed that the young man had illegally used a number plate allocated to his mother. During the incident, he physically handled the police officer’s uniform when his vehicle was stopped.
Reports suggest that had an ordinary citizen committed such an act, they would likely have faced both physical force and the registration of an FIR. However, no case has yet been registered against the young man for his misconduct.
According to media reports, the female police officer visited the Defence police station and allegedly threatened to escalate the matter to higher authorities. It is further reported that SSP Naseem Ara Panhwar attempted to exert pressure on the SSP South. Senior officials have been informed about her conduct.
