Hyderabad Kings secured a place in the Pakistan Super League final after a dramatic two-run victory over Islamabad United in the second eliminator at Gaddafi Stadium.
After winning the toss, Islamabad opted to field first, allowing Hyderabad to post a competitive total of 186 for five in their allotted 20 overs.
Usman Khan led the innings with an unbeaten 61, while captain Marnus Labuschagne added 39. Contributions from Saim Ayub (38) and Kusal Perera (37) further strengthened the total.
For Islamabad, Imad Wasim claimed two wickets, while Chris Green, Richard Gleeson and Faheem Ashraf took one each.
In response, Islamabad United fell just short, finishing on 184 for seven in their 20 overs. Mark Chapman top-scored with 43, while Haider Ali made 31 and Devon Conway contributed 30. Shadab Khan (22) and Chris Green (21) also chipped in, but the target remained out of reach.
Hyderabad’s Hanan Shah held his nerve in the final over, successfully defending six runs to seal the win and send his side into the final.
Hanan Shah and Mohammad Ali took two wickets apiece, while Hasan Khan, Saim Ayub and Akif Javed claimed one each.
Hyderabad Kings will now face Peshawar Zalmi in the final, scheduled to take place in Lahore on Sunday.
