TEHRAN: Iran’s Foreign Ministry announced that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will return to Pakistan after completing a short trip to Oman and before departing for an official visit to Russia, the ministry said.
According to the statement, Araghchi’s delegation briefly returned to Tehran following talks in Islamabad aimed at seeking guidance on steps to end the conflict in the region. The minister is slated to rejoin his delegation in Islamabad on Sunday night and will travel on to Muscat on Saturday as part of the multi-stop trip.
During his stop in Islamabad, Araghchi held meetings with Pakistan’s senior leadership, including Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Bilateral relations and regional developments were the principal topics, with both sides exchanging views on matters of mutual interest and coordination.
Araghchi earlier confirmed the itinerary on X, describing the visits to Islamabad, Muscat and Moscow as part of a diplomatic effort to strengthen coordination with partner countries. He underscored the importance of maintaining constructive relations with neighbouring states in Iran’s foreign policy and said regional partners remain a priority.
The visits follow a 40-day period of conflict and a Pakistan-mediated ceasefire; the United States and Iran have also engaged in talks in Islamabad to de-escalate tensions and explore confidence-building measures aimed at preventing renewed confrontation.
