LAHORE: Pakistani singer and actor Ali Zafar has found himself at the center of a social media firestorm following an interview with host Omar Malik, in which he shared an anecdote regarding the 2007 Bollywood hit “Dard-E-Disco”.
During the conversation, Zafar claimed that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan had personally expressed a desire for him to provide vocals for the iconic track from the film *Om Shanti Om*. According to Zafar, the collaboration ultimately failed to materialize because he was unavailable in India at the time the song’s production was being finalized.

The disclosure immediately sparked a wave of skepticism and mockery across digital platforms. Social media users flooded comment sections with memes and sarcastic critiques, questioning the validity of the claim and suggesting that the story was exaggerated. However, the singer also maintained a segment of loyal support, with some fans arguing that Zafar’s vocal style would have been a fitting addition to the film’s soundtrack.
Beyond the pop-culture controversy, the interview provided a rare, candid look into Zafar’s personal struggles over the past several years. The actor spoke extensively about the emotional toll of the public harassment allegations leveled against him by singer Meesha Shafi, describing the prolonged discourse as a deeply painful and draining experience.
Zafar’s remarks follow a series of legal developments in the case; a Lahore court recently ruled in his favor in the long-standing defamation litigation, a resolution he has publicly characterized as a vindication of the truth.
