The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued its losing streak as the benchmark KSE-100 Index fell over 2,000 points during the early trading on Friday.
At 11:14am, the benchmark index was trading at 167,161.45, a decline of 2,011.92 points or 1.19%.
Selling pressure was seen across major sectors, including automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, fertiliser, oil and gas exploration, and power generation. Key index-heavy stocks such as HUBCO, MARI, OGDC, PPL, FFC, UBL, and HBL also closed in negative territory.
On Thursday, bearish sentiment dominated the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), as investors remained cautious amid ongoing uncertainty and awaited clearer cues on geopolitical developments.
The benchmark KSE-100 Index fell by 2,406 points, or 1.40%, to settle at 169,173.38 points.
Meanwhile, The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) confirmed that all deposits held with the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development have now been repaid, totaling $3.45 billion, as the country continues to navigate its broader fiscal and external financing commitments under an IMF-backed program.
Moreover, oil prices rose on Friday morning over fears of renewed military escalation in the Middle East with Brent crude futures rising $1.23, or 1.17%, to $106.3 a barrel by 0107 GMT, while West Texas Intermediate futures were up $1.07, or 1.12%, at $96.92.
