A woman from Canada has travelled to Pakistan after falling in love with a Pakistani citizen, where the two have now married.
The woman, identified as Sarah Michelle Lena, arrived in Timergara in Lower Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to marry a man she had befriended on social media.
The couple reportedly tied the knot by mutual consent.
Sources say their friendship began online and gradually developed into a serious relationship. The foreign national later travelled to Pakistan, where they formalised their marriage.
According to documents, Sarah Michelle Lena is a Canadian citizen born on 12 May 1989. She applied for a Pakistani visa on 6 March 2026 and was granted a tourist/visit visa on 10 March 2026.
The visa issued was a 90-day single-entry visa, valid from 10 March 2026 to 9 June 2026.
Reports indicate that the woman declined to speak to the media, while local sources said residents were pleasantly surprised by the development.
It is worth noting that similar cases of foreign women travelling to Pakistan for love and marrying local men have occurred on several occasions in the past.
