The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday continued to witness selling pressure as the benchmark KSE-100 Index further fell over 2,400 points.
At close, the benchmark index settled at 169,173.37, a decline of 2,405.93 points or 1.4%.
Selling pressure was evident across major sectors, including automobile assemblers, cement, fertiliser, oil and gas exploration, OMCs, and power generation. Heavyweight stocks such as HUBCO, MARI, OGDC, POL, PPL, SNGPL, FFC, MCB, and UBL all closed in negative territory.
On Wednesday, investor sentiment at the PSX remained bearish, as uncertainty over ongoing US-Iran negotiations and heightened geopolitical tensions dampened market confidence, with little clarity on a possible breakthrough.
The benchmark KSE-100 Index dropped 1,576.48 points, or 0.91%, to settle at 171,579.31.
Meanwhile, oil prices edged slightly lower on Thursday following strong gains in the previous session, as stalled peace talks between the United States and Iran, along with continued restrictions on trade flows through the Strait of Hormuz, kept markets cautious.
Brent crude slipped 15 cents to $101.76 per barrel after closing above $100 for the first time in over two weeks on Wednesday, while West Texas Intermediate declined 14 cents to $92.82.
