KHUZDAR: Two law enforcement officials, including Lady Constable Malik Naz — the first female police officer in Balochistan’s history — were martyred during an exchange of fire with miscreants the other day, officials said.
Police said the firing took place during an operation in the Bajoi area of Khuzdar carried out on a tip-off about criminal activity. Head Constable Samiullah also lost his life in the incident, while several other officials sustained injuries.
Assistant Chief Minister Shahid Rind paid tribute to Malik Naz, saying she “sacrificed her life for the protection of the people.” He added that Malik Naz’s husband had earlier been martyred in a targeted killing while serving with the Levies Force. Malik Naz leaves behind three children, Mr Rind said.
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has taken over the investigation, and Mr Rind vowed that the involved elements would be brought to justice. “Operations against peace‑disrupting elements will continue and the martyrs’ sacrifices will not go in vain,” he said, adding that the provincial government stands with the families and will provide all possible support.
No further details about the suspects or the exact sequence of events were released immediately as the probe continues.
