The meeting granted in-principle approval for the construction of a sky glass bridge in Kotli Sattian, alongside multiple development projects designed to enhance visitor facilities and mitigate environmental risks.
Officials decided to engage international experts to address the persistent issue of landslides in Murree, with immediate interventions also ordered to counter terrain-related hazards. Authorities were further directed to accelerate relief and rehabilitation efforts for affected communities in several vulnerable areas.
As part of a broader tourism strategy, the government approved the establishment of three hospitality zones in Murree’s suburban areas, where private-sector collaboration will facilitate the development of high-end hotels meeting international standards.
The meeting also reviewed progress on the Murree protection and rehabilitation plan, including new public parks and eco-tourism facilities. Officials highlighted the development of wildlife conservation zones, eco-parks, and a glamping village aimed at attracting both domestic and international tourists.
In addition, authorities set a one-month deadline to initiate work on the Murree glass train project, while key roads in the region are set to be widened to improve accessibility.
Other proposals discussed included a chairlift project in Kotli Sattian, a paragliding facility, and enhanced accommodation infrastructure through forest rest houses and Punjab House upgrades.
The meeting also directed officials to finalise a feasibility report for a bulk water supply scheme from the River Jhelum by April 30 and approved, in principle, the establishment of Punjab’s first facility management unit to oversee tourism infrastructure.
The initiatives form part of the provincial government’s wider plan to position Murree and its adjoining areas as a sustainable, high-end tourism hub while addressing longstanding environmental and infrastructure challenges.
