KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan surged on Saturday, tracking gains in international markets and reflecting the impact of exchange rate movements.
According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of 24‑karat gold rose by Rs 4,500 to Rs 506,062 per tola. Ten grams of 24‑karat gold climbed Rs 3,858 to Rs 433,866, while 22‑karat stood at Rs 397,724 per 10 grams, up Rs 3,536.
Silver also recorded notable increases. The price of 24‑karat silver advanced Rs 118 to Rs 8,562 per tola, while 10 grams gained Rs 101 to Rs 7,340.
On the global front, international gold was quoted at $4,837 per ounce, up $45, while silver reached $80.78 per ounce, rising $1.18.
Analysts note that the sharp rise in local bullion prices underscores the sensitivity of Pakistan’s precious metals market to international trends and rupee exchange rates. The gains add further pressure on consumers ahead of the wedding season, when demand for jewellery typically peaks.
Muhammad Qasim Shikarpuri, President of the association, confirmed the rates were calculated on the basis of interbank exchange levels, with purity set at 999 for 24‑karat gold.
