KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued its upward march on Wednesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 index surging 4,698 points, or 2.76 per cent, to close at 170,333.71. The rally was broad-based, with the KSE-30 gaining 2.97pc, the KMI-30 advancing 2.90pc, and the banking sector index (BKTI) rising 2.50pc. Trading volumes exceeded 101 million shares, with a traded value of nearly Rs5.9 billion across 41,732 transactions.
Investor sentiment was buoyed by a confluence of positive factors.

On the international front, the ceasefire in the Middle East continues to hold, easing geopolitical anxieties. Domestically, Pakistan secured a $3 billion loan from Saudi Arabia, a development seen as strengthening the country’s external account and providing much-needed fiscal breathing space. Analysts noted that the inflow, coupled with easing global tensions, has bolstered investor confidence and triggered strong buying across sectors.
