RAWALPINDI: In what appears to be a renewed escalation of legal tensions surrounding the incarceration of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, his lawyer Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry has once again demanded the immediate presentation and return of critical legal documents — including a power of attorney — signed by Khan while in custody at Adiala Jail.
In a letter dated April 15, 2026, Chaudhry re-sent the documents via courier, following up on a previous submission made on April 6. According to the lawyer, the documents were received by jail authorities on April 9 at 3:13 PM, yet when he personally visited Gate 5 on April 13 to collect the signed papers, jail staff claimed the documents “could not be found.”

Chaudhry labeled the incident a “serious administrative lapse” and an “obstruction of justice,” warning that delays are eroding Khan’s right to a fair trial and jeopardizing his ability to file a Supreme Court appeal before the deadline.
Chaudhry has issued a 24-hour ultimatum for the documents to be presented to Khan, signed, and returned. Copies of the letter have been simultaneously forwarded to the Registrar and Secretary of the Chief Justice at the Supreme Court, the Registrar of the Islamabad High Court, the IG Prisons Punjab, the Superintendent of Police, Saddar Circle Rawalpindi, and co-counsel Azir Karamat Bhindari — signaling a coordinated legal push to compel compliance.
