KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has reportedly uncovered a massive corruption scandal linked to Sindh’s flagship Roshan Sindh Program, with investigators accelerating probes after uncovering compelling evidence of fraudulent import declarations.
According to NAB sources, critical items procured locally were falsely declared as imported goods through 17 fabricated customs documents, with funds subsequently routed abroad under the guise of legitimate overseas payments.
Details available with MM News revealed that four individuals — Mehfood Qazi, Mudassar Qazi, Jaffar Khawaja, and Aun Khawaja — have been formally summoned, with two of them ordered to appear before NAB on April 15 to face charges including fake invoicing and misrepresentation of locally sourced goods as imported.
It has also been learnt that the bureau’s intensified scrutiny signals a major escalation in its efforts to hold accountable those allegedly involved in siphoning public funds meant for renewable energy infrastructure.
