China has condemned US blockade around Iranian ports, calling it “dangerous and irresponsible”, after US President Donald Trump threatened to sink any boats that sought to leave or dock there.
The United States has intensified its military operations and implemented a targeted blockade, a move China warns will heighten tensions, weaken the already fragile ceasefire, and threaten safe navigation through the Strait. Speaking at a press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun described the actions as “dangerous and irresponsible.”
Meanwhile, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez stressed that China could play a crucial role in resolving the Middle East conflict, particularly after recent talks between Iranian and US negotiators failed to produce an agreement.
Following discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, Sánchez said that China’s involvement could help advance diplomatic solutions and promote regional stability and peace.
Moreover, US President Donald Trump asserted that Iran’s navy had been “completely obliterated” during the conflict, claiming only a small number of fast-attack vessels remain.
He also issued a stark warning on social media, stating that any Iranian ships approaching the US-imposed blockade would be “immediately eliminated,” referencing the rapid and forceful tactics used by the US against suspected drug-trafficking boats at sea.
