Pakistan star Babar Azam reacted sharply to a reporter who questioned his ability to finish matches, drawing comparisons with India’s Virat Kohli.
Azam appeared visibly frustrated, with video footage showing him responding angrily to the query.
Earlier, he was also seen striking the boundary cushions with his bat after being dismissed for 47. Despite his consistency, the 31-year-old has faced criticism for struggling to match the fast tempo of Twenty20 cricket, holding a career strike rate of 128.
Unhappy with the comparison, Azam urged the journalist to avoid such debates. “End these discussions. Keep such opinions to yourself. Stop the comparisons and move on. It’s your misconception that I haven’t finished matches,” he said.
This is not the first time the Pakistani batter has drawn attention for off-field reactions.
Earlier this year, during Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL), Azam was playing for Sydney Sixers against Sydney Thunder when Steve Smith refused him a simple single to retain strike during the “Power Surge.” The move proved tactical, as Smith went on to score a record 32 runs in the following over.
