ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has postponed its planned April 9 public gathering after the government asked the opposition party to reconsider the event in view of upcoming US-Iran dialogue in Islamabad.
The development came after Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar urged PTI to delay the rally, citing the timing of the diplomatic engagement in the federal capital. The report said the request was made ahead of the US-Iran talks scheduled to take place in Islamabad.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said the party had received a message from PTI founder Imran Khan regarding the matter. According to the report, Gohar said the party decided to defer the April 9 rally after considering the government’s request.
The report said the PTI chief expressed the hope that the ceasefire between the United States and Iran would become permanent.
It added that the party’s decision to postpone the gathering was linked to the broader situation surrounding the dialogue.
