ISLAMABAD: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Asim Munir, has held a telephonic conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araghchi, according to the Embassy of Iran in Pakistan.
According to the details, the Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi appreciated the constructive & responsible role of Pakistan in continuous and effective efforts to end the war and strengthen peace and security in the region, as well as the ceasefire.
The call came shortly after a significant diplomatic push involving Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan’s military leadership, which played a key role in persuading stakeholders to step back from further escalation.
The intervention reportedly influenced Washington’s decision to delay potential military action, allowing time for dialogue.
Iran’s leadership, including Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, subsequently approved a pause in military operations, signaling acceptance of a temporary truce framework.
Officials clarified that the ceasefire is a limited measure aimed at reducing immediate hostilities and creating conditions for further talks.
