Punjab Police has announced the mandatory implementation of a biometric system in all police stations, in collaboration with NADRA.
The system aims to ensure faster, more transparent identification of suspects and complainants, while also recording police attendance digitally.
Biometric verification will now be mandatory in police stations, and no registration of a suspect or complainant will be possible without it.
Instructions have been issued to activate the biometric module in the Police Station Record Management System.
All stations must ensure the availability of biometric devices within seven days, and police officers have been directed to immediately inspect the stock of devices.
Furthermore, police attendance will also be recorded through the biometric system, which will make the identification process of suspects and citizens faster and more transparent.
The Office of the IG Punjab has also directed submission of a compliance report within seven days.
