In a high-level meeting chaired by PM Shehbaz Sharif it has been decided to shut malls and markets at 8pm across Pakistan.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, shops dealing in daily essentials, departmental stores and malls will also be required to shut by 8:00 pm.
The notification further states that bakeries, restaurants, tandoors and other food outlets will close by 10:00 pm, while marriage halls and marquees will also not operate beyond 10:00 pm.
It was additionally decided that wedding events at private properties and homes will not be allowed after 10:00 pm.
However, medical stores and pharmacies will be exempt from these restrictions.
The decisions taken during the meeting will come into effect from 7 April. Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underlined the need to introduce environment-friendly electric vehicles (EVs) across the country to help save precious foreign reserves.
Addressing a ceremony of provision of eco-smart electric vehicles to the Islamabad Capital Traffic Police, the prime minister said that all law enforcement agencies and provinces should emulate such precedents of energy-saving initiatives.
